Q:  How does an individual get into Justice 2000’s Municipal Court Services programming?

A:  All participants in the Municipal Court Alternatives Program must have at least one open case in the City of Milwaukee Municipal Court that carries a jail time alternative for non-payment of a fine.

You or your representative from a community-based organization can obtain referral information by calling (414) 286-8733.

Q:  Does Justice 2000 help with paying bail/fines?

A:  No.  Justice 2000 does not assist anyone with the payment of bail or fines.

Q:  Does Justice 2000 help people with driver’s license recovery?

A:  No.  The Driver’s License Recovery and Employability Program is now run by Wisconsin Community Services.  That program can be reached by calling (414) 297-6407.

Q:  Does Justice 2000 give legal advice?

A:  No.  Justice 2000 staff are not lawyers and cannot provide legal advice.  To obtain the advice of a licensed attorney, we suggest contacting the Lawyer Referral Service of the Milwaukee Bar Association at (414) 274-6768.

Q:  How can I get a warrant cleared up?

A:  If the warrant is for a felony or misdemeanor case, you should start by contacting your attorney and formulating a plan for clearing up the warrant.

Felony warrants often require a person to turn him/herself in to law enforcement.

Misdemeanor warrants can often be cleared up by appearing in Out of Custody Court at 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Out of Custody court is located in the Milwaukee County Safety Building – 821 W. State Street, Room 221.

Municipal warrants must be cleared up by contacting the Municipal Court of the municipality that issued the ticket.

8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Q: Someone I know was arrested -- how can I find out where they are?

A:  When someone is arrested, he/she may be held at one of several facilities.  There are a few different ways to find out where he/she is being held.

If you know where the arrest occurred, call the police district responsible for that location.

If the person is no longer being held at the police district, he/she was likely moved to the Milwaukee County Jail or the Milwaukee Secure
Detention Facility.
