Award Season Kicks Off by Recognizing Andi Elliott as a Finalist at the BizTimes Nonprofit Excellence Awards

The Community Advocates team poses for a picture in front of BizTimes Media's Nonprofit Excellence Awards banner. Amongst them is Andi Elliott, finalist for the the Nonprofit Executive of the Year award.

Community Advocates’ Chief Executive Officer Andi Elliott was recognized yesterday at the 11th annual BizTimes Nonprofit Excellence Awards as a finalist in the Nonprofit Executive of the Year category. She was nominated for the award due to the innovation she has brought to nonprofit leadership and her demonstration of what it means to be passionate about nonprofit work.

Andi has a tremendous amount of dedication to helping support people in our community in a dignified way. She began her career at Community Advocates as a student intern during her time at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Social Work and having found the work so rewarding, never left. Over thirty years later, Community Advocates was beyond proud to hear our CEO’s name called amongst the other Nonprofit Executive of the Year finalists.

We were in good company at the Italian Community Center as the ballroom filled with executives, board members, and staff for some of the most influential nonprofit organizations in southeastern Wisconsin. With the common goal of making Milwaukee a magnificent place to live, finalists and honorees told stories that resonated and anecdotes that inspired. It allowed for recognition and acknowledgment of the many organizations and individuals who have dedicated their careers and lives to serving others.

The awards also dedicated time to thank and honor corporate citizens and for-profit organizations that contribute time and resources. The crowd was brought to their feet as Donald and Donna Baumgartner took the stage and accepted the Lifetime Achievement award. Donald and Donna have played an instrumental role in Milwaukee’s art and culture scene through years of service and donations. For that we are incredibly grateful.

There is power in numbers and through gathering together in an atmosphere of camaraderie and celebration, we feel honored to contribute to the continued success of our community. We would like to thank BizTimes Media for hosting the event and providing a space to salute the excellence that exists and excels in Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin.
