Meet Molly M.

Molly M and her finance at the bridal shower

When most brides-to-be put together a wish list for their bridal shower, it may include household essentials, kitchen gadgets, or perhaps a personalized cutting board with their new last name. But for Molly M., those traditional gifts felt unnecessary. “I have plenty,” she explained. Instead of receiving money and presents, Molly asked her friends and family to join her in giving back to the community by donating to the Milwaukee Women’s Center, a division of Community Advocates.

Molly’s choice came from a place of deep reflection. As a woman and a feminist, she wanted to find a meaningful way to use her bridal shower as a moment of collective generosity. “I recognize the privilege I have, and it’s important to use it,” she said. With this in mind, she began researching local domestic violence shelters, ultimately connecting with the Milwaukee Women’s Center and learning about its programs that support survivors of domestic violence, families in crisis, and individuals working to rebuild their lives.

By turning her bridal shower into a fundraiser for the Milwaukee Women’s Center, Molly’s gathering was filled not with material goods, but with generosity and hope. Her guests walked away knowing they had contributed to safety, support, and empowerment for women and families in need across Milwaukee. On behalf of the people who find dignity and hope through the Milwaukee Women’s Center, we thank Molly and her loved ones for their gifts and compassion.
