  health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate 
 care.\n\nWhat the Mental Health First Aid Course offers:\nâ€¢ Common signs a
 nd symptoms of mental illness\nâ€¢ Common signs and symptoms of substance us
 e\nâ€¢ How to interact with a person in crisis\nâ€¢ How to connect the person 
 with help\nâ€¢ Content on trauma\, addiction\, and self-care\n\nThe course w
 ill teach you how to apply the ALGEE action plan:\nâ€¢ Assess for risk of su
 icide or harm.\nâ€¢ Listen nonjudgmentally.\nâ€¢ Give reassurance and informat
 ion.\nâ€¢ Encourage appropriate professional help.\nâ€¢ Encourage self-help an
