out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental
health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate
care.\n\nWhat the Mental Health First Aid Course offers:\n• Common signs a
nd symptoms of mental illness\n• Common signs and symptoms of substance us
e\n• How to interact with a person in crisis\n• How to connect the person
with help\n• Content on trauma\, addiction\, and self-care\n\nThe course w
ill teach you how to apply the ALGEE action plan:\n• Assess for risk of su
icide or harm.\n• Listen nonjudgmentally.\n• Give reassurance and informat
ion.\n• Encourage appropriate professional help.\n• Encourage self-help an
d other support strategies.\n\nClass size is limited. This workshop is
open to Milwaukee County residents and those who work with them.
